No Longer Wicked

The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes. (Proverbs 21:10)
How do we define wickedness? It is discussed throughout the Bible, and Proverbs 21 provides a clear definition. Living wickedly means having a heart driven by self-interest, destructive desires, and a disregard for others.
The self-centered nature of wickedness becomes particularly evident in relationships and interactions. Wicked individuals see relationships mainly as tools or obstacles. They use others to fulfill their interests, ambitions, and desires, only to discard them when they are no longer needed. The truth is that this reflects how the world operates. The world system is fundamentally flawed.
When unchecked and apart from the influence of the Holy Spirit, our human desires lead us toward wickedness. Human nature has a sinful tendency to focus solely on ourselves and what makes us happy. Thank God we have been delivered from such darkness and deception. For believers, the old ways of wickedness have passed away, and all things have become new. We must choose not to let the old man, our fleshly nature, influence our actions or interactions with others. There is no longer a place for wickedness in your life. You have been transformed, renewed, and made whole through God’s mercy and love.
Practical Application
Examine your relationships today and evaluate whether your interactions stem from selfish desires or genuine care and love for others. Are you using people to achieve your goals, or are you investing in those God has placed in your life for a purpose?
