No Longer Under Pressure

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. (Galatians 3:16-19)

When you read God’s Word, you must understand that there is a pre- and post-Jesus time. The theological term for this is “dispensations.” In the time before Jesus, the law was the most significant focus, but it was only temporary. It was never meant to be the final system God wanted to use; instead, the law served as a tutor before Jesus came.

Jesus fulfilled all the law’s requirements, and now we live in the dispensation of grace and the Spirit. It no longer matters what day we worship, as every day is holy and every believer is a priest. Righteousness is given by faith, not performance.

Too many believers today still live with an Old Covenant mindset. They attempt to fulfill the law of Moses, while we are under the law of grace. Many try to measure their holiness by their ability to follow rules rather than by their relationship with God. The law served a purpose, but also had an expiration date. Once Jesus came, everything changed for those who accepted and followed Him.

Practical Application

Ask yourself: have I allowed myself to be blinded by Old Covenant faith instead of walking in power and purpose in my relationship with Christ? Decide to live boldly and freely, reminding yourself of your relationship with God. You are forgiven, free, and empowered. Walk like it.

Romans 15:4; Romans 4:23
