Ministry of Helps

And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled. (Mark 6:40-42)
Jesus didn’t feed the 5,000 people all by Himself; He used the ministry of helps to make the feeding possible. Organizing people into groups of hundreds and fifties was no small task. The disciples understood what Jesus needed and helped coordinate what was necessary to keep order during the miracle.
The ministry of helps was crucial for the miracle to happen. Believers need to understand that the ministry of helps isn’t less spiritual than other spiritual gifts; it is fundamentally spiritual. Every usher who greets someone entering the sanctuary, every volunteer who sets up a chair, every prayer partner who intercedes, every singer, every camera operator, every bookstore helper—each one is part of the miracle God wants to perform each week at church. Without the disciples’ obedience, the bread would never have reached the people, and without the ministry of helps working in a church, miracles can get stalled in the hands of leadership.
Every great message you've heard and every miracle you've seen from the ministry of a pastor depends on the faithfulness of those willing to serve behind the scenes.
Practical Application
Find a place to serve where you are planted. It is not enough to just hear the message and be part of the community. You are called to help facilitate what God wants to do in that house. Find a place to serve and do so faithfully.
Acts 6:3; 1 Corinthians 12:28
