For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. (1 Corinthians 14:2)

God already knows how Satan will attack you tomorrow. He saw the trap being set, and He has a plan to help you avoid it. However, God doesn’t act on earth unless people agree with Him. One way to agree with God is by praying in tongues because praying in tongues is praying His perfect will into the world. The Bible says that when we speak in an unknown tongue, we speak musterion, which means mysteries and divine secrets. What secrets? The secret plans of the enemy.

When you pray in tongues, you’re engaging in preventive warfare. It’s not just about attacking the enemy today; it’s about setting up defenses for what the enemy is planning in the future. The Holy Spirit will intercede through your prayers to redirect resources you need, position angels where they’re most effective to protect you, and prepare your spirit for the battle ahead. That’s why believers can walk through storms in perfect peace—because we’ve already prayed for guidance before facing them. But tongues not only reveal the mysteries of the enemy; they are also a mystery to the enemy. They are encrypted communications to Heaven that Satan can’t decode. There is no demonic interception and no human contamination in what is spoken.

Practical Application

The more time you spend praying in the Spirit, the more attuned you become to His timing, His nudges, and His voice. Don’t wait for problems to pray in the Spirit; pray every morning, and as you do, you will become more sensitive to the Spirit.

Acts 19:6; Matthew 13:11
