And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26-28)

God, from the very beginning of creation, purposed not to create puppets but to establish a partnership with mankind. He wasn’t forcing robots; He was installing rulers into the earth’s system. When God said, “Let them have dominion,” He was transferring His authority to mankind. God planned to entrust the management of the earth to human hands. That’s how God designed earth to operate. That’s why, when God wants to do something on earth, He still looks for a man or woman who will agree with Heaven and be a willing vessel for Him to use to bring about His will. Your voice, your acts of faith, and your obedience set the stage for what God wants to do. That’s also why prayer is so vital in the lives of believers. It’s not just you talking to God; it’s allowing God to gain legal entry into situations you are dealing with through your agreement.

Also, when you pray in the Holy Spirit, you are praying the exact will of God, even when you don’t understand it. That’s why, when God wakes you up at 2 am and you’re not sure why, you need to pray in the Holy Spirit. Those are invitation moments to affect the world through your prayers. You are not just called to be a manager of problems; you are called to be an atmosphere changer. God called mankind to “subdue the earth.” That word in Hebrew means to bring under order, to keep chaos from overrunning creation. Every day, there’s spiritual chaos trying to enter homes, our businesses, our cities, and our minds.

Practical Application

Begin your mornings with partnership, not panic. Instead of watching the news, scrolling through your Facebook feed, or making your to-do list, spend time talking to God.
