Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:9-13)

God works in you to do His will and He does it by sharing with you the power and authority He gave to Jesus when He rose from the dead! You’ve got tremendous power in the name of Jesus! Demons bow to get out of your way and angels move to help you when you speak in the name (Greek- onoma- meaning authority) of Jesus. When you pray in the name of Jesus, as far as God is concerned, Jesus Himself is praying. When you take authority over demons in the name of Jesus, as far as they are concerned, Jesus Himself is commanding them, and they must obey!

Philippians 2:13 tells us God has work for you to do, but He doesn’t expect you to do it alone! You are part of the body of Christ. Jesus is the Head, and you are part of the body, so you have the same authority He has, and you can fulfill God’s will just as He did by the power of the Holy Ghost. When you understand your authority to use the name of Jesus, you will be bold in doing what God has called you to do! You will stop trying to do things in your own power, and you’ll speak to things in the name of Jesus and see them change!

Practical Application

Let God work in you to do His will! Pray in the name of Jesus. Take authority over sickness, lack, and demonic oppression in the name of Jesus and watch things move!

Ephesians 1:23; Hebrews 13:21
