God Inside

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Most of the church has been trained to look up and out. We sing about God coming down. We pray for God to show up. We wait for something to happen from the outside. And there is nothing wrong with acknowledging God's greatness and His presence. But there is a truth that the church has largely missed, and missing it has kept believers weak, defeated, and waiting on something they already have.
Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. That is not a motivational slogan. That is a positional statement about where God lives. If you are born again, God is not just around you. He is not just watching over you from a distance. He is inside you. The Holy Ghost, the third person of the Trinity, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, took up residence inside of you the moment you were saved. The problem is that most believers have this truth in their heads but not in their hearts. Head knowledge and heart knowledge are two very different things.
You can quote 1 John 4:4, sing about it, put it on your mirror in the bathroom, and still live like you are waiting on God to come through for you from the outside. But when this truth drops from your head into your spirit and becomes a revelation, it changes everything. It changes how you talk. It changes how you pray. It changes how you walk into a room. It changes how you face a problem.
You are not waiting on God to show up. He already showed up and is inside you right now.
Practical Application
Today, before you ask God to do something in the world around you, remind yourself of what He has already done inside of you. Say it out loud: "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." Say it until it stops being a motivational phrase to you and becomes a reality you walk into.
