From Vanity to Glory

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope. (Romans 8:20)

The world we live in is not currently as God originally intended it to be. In the beginning, God created the earth and all that is in it, and it was all good. But when sin entered the world, everything changed. The earth was subjected to depravity and corruption, and man could no longer rule over it easily. This earth was never meant to be a place full of chaos, destruction, and decay, but the wages of sin is death. The death that was passed down was not just toward Adam’s descendants, but also to the earth itself.

The good news is that God has a plan to redeem and restore the earth in the same way He has a plan to redeem and restore us. Paul tells us that creation shall be delivered from the boding of corruption into the glorious liberty.

As Christians, we can take comfort because this world is not our final destination. We are just passing through. Eventually God will make a New Heaven and a New Earth, and we will live in a glorified creation forever.

Practical Application

Don’t feel defeated and hopeless as you face challenges and obstacles in your daily life, and don't lose faith! We live in a broken world that sin has infiltrated and as a result, we have all felt its effects on the world. But you can have hope and faith that God has not abandoned you to this state of things. God has elevated you to Heaven’s way of doing things. He wants you to be a part of redeeming the time. Don’t lose hope; act and speak in faith knowing what God has called you to do.

Genesis 3:18; Genesis 6:13
