From Faith to Faith

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (Romans 1:17)

Every gift of the Spirit requires one thing before you can operate in it: faith.Paul wrote in Romans 1 that faith is not just how we begin our walk with God, but also how we live in step with the Holy Spirit.

Paul explained in his writing that the righteousness of God is revealed to us, not through striving or knowledge, but from faith to faith. Faith is an action word. It’s not just something you believe; it’s something you do. You can know about the gifts of the Spirit, and you can study all the Scriptures you want, but until you step out in faith, everything you’ve learned is just potential.

One Sunday at our church, I received a specific word of knowledge regarding a contusion behind the left ear. When I said, “There is a person here who has a contusion right behind the left ear. God wants to heal this thing right now, but you have to come forth.” No one responded. That’s the moment when many believers retreat. That’s the moment Satan whispers, “You missed it.” But faith doesn’t base success on how people react. It stands firm on following what God said. Faith says: “If I hear God, I obey. I am not responsible for other people’s reactions, only my obedience.” That same night, multiple words of knowledge began to flow, one after another. Bang. Bang. Bang. Then, only after the service, the confirmation came. The person with the contusion was watching online. The word was right, but in the middle of the moment, it looked like I had missed it. Follow God, obey instantly, and God will take care of the results.

Practical Application

Resist the urge to let the fear of looking foolish keep you from doing what God commands. Much of what God asks of us may seem risky to our instincts. Move forward anyway. If it doesn’t feel dangerous or awkward, it’s not truly faith.
