Fresh Evil, Fresh Declaration

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Matthew 6:34)

Jesus never said that following Him meant a life without trouble. That idea is more of a New Age concept and a Hollywood-style philosophy than a scriptural one. Instead, Jesus said that each day you wake up has evil assigned to it. Every day brings its own fresh evil, its own challenges, its own attacks, and its own set of things the enemy will throw at you. That is not being a pessimist; it’s believing what Jesus said about living in this world.

But Jesus didn’t say just “grin and bear it” or to “just deal with the issues.” He gave us specific instructions to take no thought for tomorrow. That means do not let the stress of tomorrow's problems enter your today. Do not pick up next week's challenges and add them to this week's load. Tomorrow will have its own evil, and tomorrow God will give you the right words to speak and deal with it. Your job right now isn’t tomorrow; it’s today. God has given you a word to declare today over your situations and see them change.

God has equipped you to handle the fresh evil that comes every day with the words of your mouth. You do not defeat daily evil by thinking about it more carefully. You defeat it by speaking the Word of God over it clearly.

Practical Application

At the start of your day, before you begin to worry about tomorrow, open your mouth and declare the Word of God over this specific day—not over next month, the next quarter, or next year but rather today. Ask the Holy Ghost what needs to be said and then say it. He has already planned to give you the words to speak and declare over your day.
