Faithfulness is the Measure

He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. (Matthew 25:22-23)

I have heard people use excuses for not serving or giving to God. Many of them say they aren’t as “talented” as someone else; they haven’t had the same “opportunities” as others or the same “natural ability.” God does not judge you based on someone else’s skill, opportunity, talent, or financial status. You will be judged based on your faithfulness to the call and purpose God has put on your life.

Do not succumb to the temptation of comparing your life, skills, or platform to others. You are not called to live their life or to walk in their calling. If you tried to do so, it would damage every aspect of your life because God did not design for you to walk in it.

God has given everyone the opportunity to follow Him and step out in faith. The question is, what has God placed in your hand and your life? The parable Jesus gives us teaches that it is not about having the same abilities or resources as others but about making the best use of what you have been given.

God is not asking you to do what someone else is doing. He asks you to be faithful in doing what He has put in your hands and your life. At the end of this life, when you meet God, He will not say, “Well done, good and talented servant,” or “Good and wealthy servant.” We aim to hear the Master say we are “good and faithful.”

Practical Application

Today, as you do whatever tasks are appointed to you, approach them with diligence and faithfulness. Do them as unto the Lord and not unto man. Trust that God sees your efforts and plans on your rewards based on your faithfulness.
