Even Greater

For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. (John 3:34-35)

We know that Jesus walked this earth not as the Second Person of the Trinity (although that is Who He is) but as a man anointed by God. We derive this knowledge from Acts 10:38, which states, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Jesus had to become flesh to pay for the sins of humanity; since humanity fell in the Garden, a human had to redeem the entire race. Only a perfect, sinless man could pay the price for our sins; that is Jesus Christ!

Jesus operated in seven of the nine gifts of the Spirit during His earthly ministry. He didn’t speak in tongues or interpret them, but through the anointing of the Holy Spirit, He healed the sick, cast out demons, and performed numerous other miracles.

Born-again, Spirit-filled believers can do the same things Jesus did, but none of us can do all of them. That’s why we are the body of Christ. We each have a supply of the Spirit (Philippians 1:19). The anointing didn’t leave the earth when Jesus ascended into Heaven; it multiplied because now there are millions of people walking around with the Holy Spirit. That’s what Jesus meant when He said,”greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” (John 14:12). Because there are more of us, when we each operate in the anointing on our lives, we will cover more ground for the kingdom and see more miracles.

Practical Application

You are anointed with the same Holy Ghost Jesus was anointed with. When you do what you’re anointed to do and the rest of the body of Christ does what they’re anointed to do, we see even greater things!
