Endure to the End

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand). (Matthew 24:13-15)

Endurance. It is a key word to seeing the plans of God being fulfilled through one’s life, ministry, or plans. Jesus tells us that those who endure unto the end would be saved. This isn’t talking about eternal salvation. The Greek word for saved is sozo, and it means healed, delivered, set free or made whole.

Those who go forward with endurance can take part in the next section of that verse: “this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations.” This part of the verse wasn’t directed at the disciples, there was no way they could go all around the world. It was directed at us. Also, the Greek word nations is ethnos and also means ethnicities.

Preaching the Gospel in all the world is our job. Jesus was telling us about our responsibility to not give up when times are tough and to not stop ministering when it seems like no one is connecting or responding to our message. Jesus was saying we must endure, and we must minister to the world that God has sent us individually into.

Jesus then mentioned the abomination of desolation, or a time when the antichrist will come and rebuild the Temple, but it will be an abomination. When that happens, it will signal the last three and a half years of the great tribulation.

Practical Application

Don’t give up being a part of your church. Don’t give up doing ministry. Don’t give up ministering to that person God put on your heart. Time is short and endurance is needed to move forward before Jesus returns.

Daniel 9:27; Daniel 12:11
