Crumbs From the Master's Table

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their master’s table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:27-28)

Look at what this woman called Jesus in these verses. She called Him “Master.” That one word shows where her faith was truly anchored. She wasn't just chasing a miracle. She saw who Jesus actually was. She recognized His authority and identity, and she came to Him out of that, not merely because of how badly she wanted the outcome.

And her answer is remarkable because it's humble and confident at the same time. She didn't argue that she'd earned a seat at the table. She simply pointed out that even the crumbs falling from a master's table are enough for what she came for. That's not a woman haggling for more than she's owed. That's a woman who's sure that whatever falls from this particular Master is already more than enough.

Jesus answered that faith immediately, and her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Once her faith met the moment, the healing was immediate. And that's the whole picture of what opens up when your confidence rests on who Jesus is, rather than on where you stand or what you bring. A woman outside the covenant, with no claim on any of the promises given to Israel, walked away with a complete miracle because her faith was fixed on the right Person, not on whether she was worthy enough to get one.

Practical Application

Fix your faith on who Jesus is rather than on the size of what you're asking Him for. Don’t look at the size that the answer needs to be. Let your confidence settle on His identity as Master and Healer, and ask from there.
