Born Out of Tongues

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:28)

Paul wrote to the church of Corinth, laying out the order of ministry gifts God has placed in the church. At the end of that list, he wrote "diversities of tongues." The Greek word translated as "diversities" here is genos, meaning "born of" or "born from." Every gift on that list, including apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, and healings, is born out of the operation of tongues in the life of the believer who carries those gifts. God builds and activates ministries over time through speaking in tongues.

The ministry is drawn out. It is birthed through the sustained practice of praying in the Holy Ghost. Every office I have ever walked into, whether teacher, pastor, or apostle, came as a direct result of consistent, disciplined, daily prayer in tongues. It was not as an occasional spiritual exercise, but I did it every day, rain or shine, vacation or not, busy season or slow season. I do it every single day because I understand what is actually happening when I pray that way.

My spiritual father was one of the great voices of faith in the last century. He said that nearly everything he ever learned and taught came from praying in tongues. What he taught was genuinely revolutionary for his generation. That did not come from natural intellect or seminary training alone. It came from a prayer life rooted in the Holy Spirit's intercession, working through him day after day until revelation broke through and took shape as teaching that changed lives around the world.

This is the pattern. You pray in tongues consistently. The Holy Spirit intercedes through you according to the perfect will of God. Revelation comes. Clarity comes. Calling gets defined and sharpened. The gifts God placed inside you flourish. The fog over your purpose lifts not because you figured it out mentally but because the Spirit prayed it into clarity from the inside out.

Practical Application

Believers who walk in the deepest revelation, the strongest callings, and the clearest sense of God's will are almost always the ones who have made it a daily, non-negotiable discipline of praying in tongues.
