Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:15-23)
When the Father raised Jesus from the dead, He not only restored life to His body, but He also exalted Him to the highest place, not only in this world but also in that which is to come! Jesus is above every being, physical and spiritual, in the heavenly realms, on earth and under the earth. He has authority over every angel and demon, and God made Him the head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Jesus is the Head of the church, and we are the body.
Since the Head is above every demonic influence, and it is attached to the body, then we also have that same authority and power in Jesus’ name! Do you see how tremendous this is? The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in us. Are you allowing it to work? That’s why Paul prayed that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened. They must know where they are and what they can do. Believers are seated in heavenly places in Christ, and our job is to finish what Jesus began on this earth as we fill everything with His Word, love, power, and truth.
Practical Application
Do you know who you are in Christ? Pray the Ephesians 1 prayer for yourself to see who you are in Christ, where you are seated, and the authority you have.
