A Throne That Never Ages

But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment. (Hebrews 1:8, 10-11)

The writer of Hebrews explained that the heavens and the earth, as permanent as they seem, will eventually wear out like an old garment. But Jesus' throne is described in entirely different terms. Scripture says His throne will endure forever and ever. Everything that has ever been created has a shelf life. Jesus does not.

This distinction matters far more than it appears at first glance. Circumstances change. Health reports change. Economies rise and fall. Relationships grow strained, and sometimes they break outright. Everything in the created world is, by its very design, wearing out a little every day. So if you've anchored your confidence to anything in that category, sooner or later it's going to give, not because your faith failed, but because that's just what created things do.

That's not where your confidence was ever meant to sit. It's meant to rest on a throne that doesn't age, doesn't weaken, and doesn't run out. The same One who set the foundations of the earth is still seated in unshaken authority long after the earth itself has worn thin. So when your situation feels shaky, understand what that shakiness is actually telling you: nothing about the throne you're standing on. The throne hasn't moved an inch. It can't wear out. It's just as solid today as it has always been and always will be.

Then make a deliberate choice today to take your confidence off that thing and set it back down where it belongs, on the throne of Christ, the one place that isn't going anywhere.
