Wisdom Is Yours

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Many people are praying about and searching for things that have already been granted to them. For this reason, their prayers seem to go unanswered, not because God didn’t hear them, but because they are praying about something that God has already given them.

Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:30 that when we were born again, God made specific attributes of Christ available to us.

The first attribute that is named is wisdom. This is not the kind of wisdom that can be gained naturally. The wisdom available to believers is far beyond anything that fallen humanity can grasp or understand. It is the wisdom that shaped the world before the foundations of the world. The wisdom of Christ is far beyond that of any philosopher or guru past, present, or future.

The second attribute is righteousness or our right standing with God. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we have the same standing with God that Jesus has. Now, when God looks at us, He sees Jesus’ righteousness.

The third trait of Christ that has been made available to you is sanctification. We have been set apart from the rest of the human race as a peculiar people with precious promises. The last attribute that we see here is redemption. Our redemption from Christ is not only natural like that of the Israelites from Egypt; we have been redeemed from the bondage of sin and death.

Wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption are ours when we receive Christ as Lord.

Practical Application – Do you need wisdom for something today? Thank God for the wisdom He has already given you and declare that you have access to it. The same wisdom that formed the world is available to you!
