Warning and Wisdom
Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28)
Some Christians think that preachers are only those involved in full-time ministry, but this is not the biblical description. Preachers are all those who speak the truth of God’s Word to the world around them. This is why Paul begins this verse with we preach not merely, I preach.
What are we called to preach? Our message should include warning and wisdom. With the warning, we declare that a life without Christ is meaningless, and death without Christ is a tragedy. With the wisdom, we share that with Christ, there is freedom from life's fears and purpose to life's challenges. With Christ in our lives, death is not something to fear, but a future to look forward to.
Paul desired that this warning and wisdom would be shared with all men and that all men who heard the truth of the Gospel would become mature in Christ Jesus.
We are called to approach our lives and assignments as opportunities to preach this warning and wisdom to the people God places along our path. This calling gives our work purpose, our lives a direction, and our ministry validity.
Preacher - don’t take any day or interaction for granted. We have been called for such a time as this to preach the warning and wisdom of Jesus Christ to every person that comes across our path. Don't waste this day. Instead, seek to be used by God and share His goodness with someone in your life.
Practical Application – You are a preacher of warning and wisdom. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal who you can minister to today and share the good news with them.
