The Person of Power
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:18-23)
Paul shared with the Ephesian church a prayer that he prayed for them. It's a prayer that I, and many others, pray for pray those who are close to them. Paul prayed that the eyes of their understanding would be filled with light. In other words, Paul asked God to reveal to the Ephesians deeper truths to help them walk in their purpose.
What is that truth? Paul goes on to explain it by saying, “the exceeding greatness of power to us-ward who believe according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead.” The miraculous power of the resurrection of Christ is a person, namely the Holy Ghost.
Paul was telling the church that although they knew Jesus, he wanted them also to know the Holy Spirit. Knowing the Holy Spirit means having access to His wisdom, His power, and His anointing in every aspect of life.
Practical Application – Do you know the Holy Spirit? How much time have you spent talking with Him? Spend extra time praying in the Spirit today and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to you in greater ways.
