And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:19)
The Word of God is the foundation upon where our faith rests. It is to serve as our guide in life.
However, many are attempting to reinterpret it or “improve it” by changing the text to support unbiblical lifestyles or mindsets. Those who do so are walking an extremely dangerous line. Revelation 22:19 tells us that those who are consistently and purposely changing the Word could lose absolutely everything.
The Bible is no ordinary book. It is inspired by God, penned by many authors over centuries who were all guided to write by the Holy Spirit. Attempting to change the Word of God is an act that undermines the authority of the Bible and challenges the very faith that we say we believe.
The Word of God is complete. It is final. It must be unchangeable, and it is called to be the ultimate authority for our opinions and our life.
Mature Christians should take seriously our call to be the guardians of the Word. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of knowing the Word and watching out for anyone or anything that would try to change what the Word says or stands for.
Do not mess with the Word. It comes from the mouth of God, and you will not silence Him.
Practical Application
As believers, we are called to have a reverent respect for God’s Word. Some ways we can show it are by carrying our Bible with us, memorizing Scripture, and prioritizing God’s Holy Word. You can be free from deception when you spend time with the real thing.
