Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:31-32)

In Romans 1:31-32, Paul mentioned some consequences: those who reject God and live in a way that is against His commandments will suffer. Notice the phrase ‘who knowing’ in verse 32. Why did Paul use that phrase? Because inside every man and woman is the knowledge that one day, they will face judgement for doing what is wrong. These individuals are described as covenant breakers, lacking natural affection, and unmerciful. They are aware of God's judgment, yet they continue to engage in actions that lead to destruction.

Not only do they commit these actions, but they have pleasure in them that do them. The phrase have pleasure in the Greek is suneudokeo, and it means we think well of anyone who joined us. Not only do these individuals engage in sinful behaviors, but they also take pleasure in those who do the same. This is a dangerous mindset, because it encourages the spread of sinful behavior and can lead to the corruption of an entire city, state, or nation. We see it happening all around us today. Sin, debauchery, and nonsense are becoming dominant in our society.

When Christians see immorality, we should stand firm in our faith, opposing societal influences that attempt to steer us away from God's Word. As believers, we remember that the wages of sin is death, and it is our duty to share this truth with others to guide them towards the gift of God in Jesus.

Practical Application

Pray for your country and for the protection of traditional values. Remember to share the truth of God's Word with others and guide them towards Jesus.

Job 8:3; Romans 6:23
