Silas Stayed

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them. And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles. Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still. (Acts 15:32-34)

Do you stay or do you go? It is a question you will ask yourself many times in life. Maybe that question is about a job, or about a city in which you currently live.

Decisions are important, and God wants to be involved in the decisions you make in life, even the small ones.

As Judas and Silas, the prophets, were finishing the task the church council of Jerusalem had given them, and it was time for them to leave. Although Judas was ready to go, there was something that made Silas feel like he needed to stay.

Silas followed the unction of the Holy Spirit and decided to stay there. Why? We do not know. Maybe it was for Silas' protection. Perhaps it was because Silas still had ministry to do there, and it wasn’t yet finished. We may never know why.

Following God doesn’t mean you will always immediately know why God asks you to do a particular task. We don't always understand why we are doing something, but what’s important is that we know Who has asked us to do it.

When our steps are genuinely ordered of God, we don't need to worry about why because we know as we walk in obedience, God will take care of the outcome.

Practical Application – Before you make any decision, small or large, make sure you spend time listening to the Holy Spirit. Does He have something different for you? If He gives you peace, then move ahead.
