Self-deception is Self-destruction
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. (James 1:22-24)
If someone came to me and said they were hungry, yet their home was so full of food that food was rotting and going bad, should I attribute their hunger to a lack of food or a lack of eating the food they already had in their possession?
Similarly, you have been given the power to overcome every negative situation. You have the victory of faith working for you. The only reason it doesn’t work is when you don’t use what you already have.
A person who brings a gun to a knife fight can still lose if they don't fire the weapon. When you don't read the Word, speak the Word, and apply the Word to your life, you are like a starving person with a house full of food, or a person with a gun in hand who gets killed by an attacker with no weapon.
The Bible is tremendously powerful and was given to you to manifest victory in every area of your life. We allow ourselves to be deceived when we don't follow the Word and instead try to accomplish success by worldly means. Self-deception will lead to self-destruction.
Don’t try to figure out a way to accomplish what you want without the Word. Find out what God says and follow through by doing what He has already told you to do to succeed.
Practical Application – Are you in a fight and need victory? Search the Word, find the way God says to go, and then take some concrete steps in that direction.
