Proof of Jesus in You
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:11)
How do you know an orange tree is an orange tree? Mostly, by the fruit it produces. An orange tree isn’t going to produce apples. Jesus told us that a good tree would be known as such because it produces good fruit and a bad tree is known by its bad fruit (Luke 6:43-45).
Paul wrote in the book of Philippians his desire for Christians is to be filled with fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ.
The word filled means to be crammed or stuffed entirely. It’s not the idea of something barely packed, but so packed full that there isn’t room for anything else.
But how are we filled? Paul wrote that Jesus Christ fills us. Jesus is the root that defines the good fruit we are called to produce. We are called to live with Him as the foundation of our life.
How do we establish our daily lives on the Lord? By speaking and meditating on the Word and spending time in prayer with thanksgiving.
The result of a life rooted in Jesus, Paul wrote, was that others would give glory and praise to God. God gets glory when other people see the fruit in your life.
We are called to be the evidence of God’s goodness and power. As people see God’s children manifesting good things, they will say, “There must be a God,” and will praise Him even if they don’t know Him yet.
Practical Application – How has the fruit of righteousness manifested for you? Has someone blessed you with money, or did you get a promotion that you weren’t qualified for? Tell someone about God's goodness and allow God's fruit of righteousness to bring Him glory.
