Pray for Your Workplace

Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2)

When you hear of the phrase ‘unreasonable and wicked men,’ you may immediately picture a particular person in your mind, or maybe several people.

Maybe you work in a place that is full of heathens and bosses who are not living like Christians. Perhaps everyone at the office hates God and hates you because you believe in Him. Still, God won’t release you to leave that place.

Why would God keep you there? Because you are the light of the world. God places you in the middle of darkness because light drives out darkness. God will always put someone in the life of an unbeliever to show them what light looks like. That’s why Jesus called us a city on a hill to brightly show others the way when they are stuck in darkness.

Not only are you the light, but you are also the salt of the earth. You bring God’s seasonings to everything that you touch. Many times, that is why companies succeed when a Christian is working for them. Unfortunately, they often don’t figure that out until the Christian is gone.

So, how should you pray when you have to be around people who are antagonistic to God and His Word? Pray in the way Paul asked: “that you would be saved and secure from any of the attacks that come from unreasonable and wicked men.” God will keep you safe even in the middle of a storm.

Practical Application – Pray for where you work today. Pray specifically for the head of the company and your co-workers. Then pray for yourself to be an ambassador of the Kingdom and to be protected from wicked attacks.

1 Samuel 12:23; James 5:16
