And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. (Acts 10:28)
In Acts 10:28, Peter was staring at a room full of Gentiles wanting to know more about Jesus. Suddenly, he understood the illustration that the Holy Spirit had shown him earlier with the sheet coming down from heaven full of unclean animals. The Lord will do that to you as well; He will use everyday things to illustrate spiritual truths to you.
In Acts 1:8 – Jesus told His disciples, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem [Jews], and in all Judaea [Jews], and in Samaria [half Jews], and unto the uttermost part of the earth [non-Jews].”
So, we see that Jesus already told Peter that he would minister to people who were not of Jewish origin, but he didn’t get it. Similarly, God can speak things to you, but without revelation, you won’t understand. Jesus told His disciples to take the Gospel to the entire world. When they heard the word world, they thought of only their world. In other words, they wanted to minister to people who were just like them. Today we shouldn’t minister to only black folk or white folk or my folk. The Gospel is for everyone. Biblically, there are only two groups of people - the Jews, those who have accepted Jesus, and the lost. When you limit your ministry to a particular group, you are outside of what God said.
My job is to minister to every human being wherever the Lord tells me to go – regardless of color, creed, shape, size, or sex. They are all a part of my family. They are brothers and sisters in Christ. I have heard too many people say, “Well, I am supposed to minister to black people.” That’s not in the Bible. Mark 16:15 says to Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. Racial pride and all of that other foolishness is strife that Satan set up to destroy people.
Practical Application – Have you had the mindset to only minister to or be friends with people who are just like you? If so, ask God to send people from other backgrounds your way so that you can do what the Bible says and minister to all.
