Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. (Philippians 3:15)
The word perfect was an old English word that meant to be of full age. Paul was talking about maturity in Philippians 3:15.
Christians, to be mature, need to be thinking about how to move forward with God. We should look ahead, not behind. Paul put an addendum to his statement saying, “if, in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”
If God wants to change something moving forward, He will always let you know.
If you are going to fulfill God’s plan for your life, you must press forward while at the same time, paying close attention to what God is saying.
You don't need to ask your mother, your daddy, your sister, your brother, or your friend about what to do next. You need to get that information from God.
People often approach me after I’ve preached and ask if I think they should do such and such. The truth is, if you have to ask me, then you haven't yet heard from God. You need to listen to what God says and follow His lead.
I knew that I was called to pastor because I spent time in prayer. I didn’t do all the talking; I also listened to God, and He revealed it to me. If you don't know what God has purposed for you to do, then you probably need to spend more time in prayer and listening to Him.
Practical Application – Spend some time listening today. Pray and then be quiet and listen to how God is directing you. The Spirit will lead you if you give your time and attention to the Spirit.
