Life and Light
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (John 1:1-4)
God created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Then He created man and endued mankind with His life. Men were made as little gods, in His image and likeness and with His ability to declare things and see them come to pass.
This God kind of life, with power and authority, is intended to shine as a light to all mankind. When we operate in our God-given dominion with love, we shine a spotlight on our Father, who cares for humanity.
God not only gave us physical life, but when He saw mankind was in trouble, He had Jesus leave His throne, give up His privileges, rank, and honor, clothe Himself in human flesh and humble Himself to a gruesome death. Jesus knew He would be beaten, spit on, cursed, and killed, yet He was still willing to leave His throne to save the children God loves so much.
Jesus displayed complete humility through His marvelous act of love! God gave us life to begin with; then God gave us new life to free us from the bondage of sin.
God has given believers authority and power. Realizing how much God has done for us should keep us humble, not powerless. When we operate in humble authority, we shine a spotlight on the goodness of God for the world to see.
Practical Application – Declare your faith over situations today. Speak with authority and power over any situation that isn’t according to God’s Word. Let His life in you shine His light brightly through you.
