Jesus - the Sinless
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21)
A survey was done recently that said the majority of Americans believe that Jesus sinned while He was on this earth! That shows you that there is a lack of Bible teachers in our nation! Jesus was the only person who was without sin. The Bible tells us that He was tempted in every way - just like any man – but He remained untouched by sin.
Why did Jesus need to be sinless? 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us the reason is that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. The word made means manufactured.
I'm not sure if you know about manufacturing cars, but growing up in Detroit, we know a lot about how cars are made. You take the raw material, and you mold it and shape it to produce a brand-new product.
It was required that Jesus be a sinless sacrifice because God needed to take the raw material of His righteousness to make us a brand new, righteous creature. We are now made a part of the royal family of heaven and the kingdom of God after the mold and material that Jesus gave in His sacrifice.
You are not an old sinner that was saved by grace. You are a new creature that was created from Jesus’ righteousness.
Practical Application – Approach today with the mindset of Jesus. When a problem arises, or a person with difficulties crosses your path, remind yourself that you were re-created with the righteousness of Jesus and do what Jesus would do at that moment.
