Hear it and Receive it
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:9)
Attending church, listening to a broadcast, or watching a video of the Word being preached is not enough to benefit your life. Hearing the Word is vitally important. It is the initial step needed for faith to be work in your life, but it is not the final step.
Paul explained to the church in Philippi that connected to hearing the Word is receiving the Word.
What is involved in receiving the Word? Once you hear the Word spoken, you must act as if what you heard is vital. You need to take the Word knowing that it is specific to you and your life right now. Agree with the Word and take it.
Paul wrote that hearing and receiving with Word would assure that the God of peace shall be with you.
God has many Old Testament names like Jehovah Jireh, but God also has New Testament names like the God of peace. The word peace in Greek is eirene, and it means prosperity, quietness, and rest.
God’s desire is for you to live in prosperity with rest, not stress. But that cannot be done if you never receive the Word that you hear.
Be active when you are hearing the Word preached, knowing that your act of receiving is opening the door to prosperity and rest.
Practical Application – When you hear the Word preached at church this week, make it a point to take in every word with agreement. Connect and receive from the Word spoken and decide to apply it to your life this week.
