God’s Plan For Your Life
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)
Paul taught his young protege Timothy through this letter about how to communicate with God. He began this portion of his letter describing different types of prayer. However, it is the end of this verse that I want us to focus on today.
Paul explained to Timothy why we should pray - because it is good and acceptable to God. Prayer brings the results that God wants for each person. Paul explained more about the character of the God who would have men to pray: God wants all men to be saved. Who is left after all? No one. The word saved in Greek is sozo; it means to be delivered from everything. God’s will is for everyone to be protected, delivered, healed, preserved, and to do well.
The life of sozo is the life of real prosperity. Some have become upset at me and other ministers claiming that we preach a “prosperity gospel.” What other kind of Gospel is there? A lack gospel? A failure gospel? No. God’s will is for all men to prosper – spirit, soul, and body.
Paul revealed more about God’s character, stating that He also desires all men to come unto the knowledge of the truth. The word knowledge is epignosis. It means full understanding. The truth refers to God’s Word. God wants everyone to enjoy the fullness of salvation and the power of His Word.
Practical Application – God’s plan for your life is to live the sozo life – a life of real prosperity. Open your Word and pray for a full understanding of the blessing of salvation.
