He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. (Romans 4:20-21)

In Romans 4:20-21, we read about Abraham, who was strong in faith and did not stagger at believing in the promises of God, even though his own body was as good as dead, as well as Sarah's womb. In these verses, Paul reminded us that our faith in God is not dependent on the world around us or the current situations or problems that we face. Our faith is rooted and grounded on the promises of God.

Because of his great faith, God changed Abraham's name from Abram to Abraham, which means "father of multitudes." Every day Abraham had to say his name to others and as he did, he spoke God’s promise to bless him with descendants as vast and numerous as the sand on the shore or the stars in the sky, even though Abraham’s body was as good as dead and so was Sarah's. In the same way, we can declare the promises of God over our lives and our circumstances, regardless of how things may appear in the natural.

Abraham and Sarah, who were in their nineties, continued to praise God, declaring Abraham as the "father of multitudes" and Sarah the "mother of multitudes." When we decide and declare the promises of God, we can't help but praise Him, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

Faith is not just a feeling. It is a decision to believe the promises of God and refuse to say anything that opposes His Word. Fear can come from hearing the news or negative reports but remember that fear is faith perverted. When we believe in the promises of God, we will not be moved by what we see; we will be moved only by what we believe.

Practical Application

Remember the promises of God today and decide to praise Him for what He has promised. What God has promised is a done deal.

Psalm 86:12; Psalm 149:6
