Anointed to Do Good

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38)

Acts 10:38 tells us that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and with power. This verse describes the word, Christ. Christ is not merely the last name of Jesus; the word Christ comes from the Greek, Christos, and refers to the fact that Jesus of Nazareth was anointed, or entirely covered, with the Holy Ghost and with power. Jesus fully operated in the gifts and fruits of the Spirit. Jesus exhibited both internal evidence through His character and external evidence through the power that was dispersed as He ministered.

Jesus operated on this earth through the anointing. Scripture tells us that Jesus went about doing good. No matter what you are going through, you must know that God did not give you sickness, disease, or problems. That would be contrary to His character. Jesus, anointed by the Holy Ghost, always combatted evil by doing good.

Jesus healed all who were oppressed of the devil. This included those who were physically possessed, but also those who were emotionally and mentally held captive by the enemy.

One of the most amazing things about this passage is that you and I can function with the same power. God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit so that we would also be known as people who do good and deliver people from oppression.

Practical Application – Before you walk out of the house, or before you step foot on your job, declare, “I am anointed!” Remind yourself that God called you to do good, empowered by the Holy Ghost.
