Allowing God to Produce in Your Life
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. (2 Corinthians 9:6-11)
When a farmer sows, they plan to reap. When believers sow with joy, we should also expect to reap according to God's promises. God loves a cheerful giver.
That word cheerful means hilarious. Paul was describing someone who laughs while they give because of their expectation of what will come from the seed. Paul went on to explain that God is able to make all grace abound toward you when you give in such a way. Grace is the Holy Ghost Himself. So, every blessing of the Holy Ghost is released when we give with an expectant heart full of joy. It’s not difficult to give when we understand, as Paul did, that it is God Himself who ministereth seed to the sower. In other words, God gave you the money that you have in your hand to give anyway. When we give on what God already provided to us with an expectant, joyful attitude, God makes our seed miraculously multiply, which is the first multiplication; then, He increases the harvest of return, which is the second multiplication. It is at this point that God makes you a demonstration of His goodness. Others see you enriched in everything to all bountifulness and causes both believers and non-believers to give God thanksgiving.
Practical Application – What has God asked you to sow? When you give what God has placed on your heart, do so with an expectant, joyous attitude knowing that God is going to produce something miraculous in your life.
